When words aren't enough, there are other ways in.

You've done real work to get here.

Most people who find their way to Playful Integration have already spent time in therapy. They understand where their patterns began and can trace the line between their history and how they show up now. What they're looking for is a way to work with what words haven't been able to reach.

That's where play and sand come in.

Play, sand, nervous system awareness, relational presence — these are the doors in when words haven't been enough.

When someone engages their inner world through creativity and the sand tray, the stories that shaped them often come into view in ways that conversation alone hasn't reached.

Here's how we work together.

Individual Therapy

Our work together may look different than therapy you've experienced before. We might talk, make art, write, play, or use the sand tray — whatever opens the door to the stories that shaped you and supports you in coming back to yourself with compassion and creativity.

Therapy for Neurodivergent Teens & Adults

A neuro-affirming space where neurodivergent teens and adults can explore their identity and inner world through play and sand — in ways that often feel more natural and accessible than conversation alone.
Teen clients are ages 13–17.

  • Synergetic Play Therapy is the framework at the heart of everything I do — not just as a model of play therapy, but as a way of being in relationship.

It weaves together nervous system regulation, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment, mindfulness, and therapist authenticity into an approach that's both researched and deeply human. SPT is how I understand what happens between people in the therapy room — and why presence, attunement, and creative exploration matter as much as technique.

Play Therapy Consultation with Heather Fairlee Denbrough, LCSW, RPT-S, CSPT-S

Registered Play Therapist Supervisor; Certified Synergetic Play Therapy Supervisor; Sand Therapy Foundational Certificate, World Association of Sand Therapy Professionals

For therapists integrating play and sand therapy into their clinical work.

From a Synergetic Play Therapy perspective, we might work on skills practice, role play, case consultation, conceptualization, and more. As an RPT-S and certified Synergetic Play Therapy Supervisor, I bring sixteen years of practice and a genuine love for this work to every consultation. SPT isn't just my clinical framework — it's the way I understand relationship, healing, and what it means to be truly present with another person.

This is how the work moves.

Most people arrive already carrying some awareness of what's shaped them. The first thing we do is make space for that — your story, what you're noticing, what you're hoping might shift.

As the work unfolds, something begins to move. Through play, sand, and relational presence, people often find themselves accessing parts of their experience that conversation alone hasn't reached. New understanding surfaces. Patterns that once felt automatic start to have space around them.

Over time, the change becomes something you live. Clients often leave with a stronger sense of inner authority — trusting their own experience, relating to themselves with greater ease.

You don't have to carry everything that was passed down.
That's what this work is for.

What clinicians say

When you're ready, I'd love to hear from you.

Playful Integration is a tender space to explore what shaped you — and begin choosing what you carry forward.

I'm Heather — AuDHD play therapist, sand therapy practitioner & devoted cat-mom.

And I believe in relational magic. That moment when someone feels fully seen and something inside begins to shift.

I've spent sixteen years helping people explore the stories that shaped them through play, sand, and deeply witnessed relational work. Playful Integration offers a tender space to do that work. And when I'm not in the room, I'm probably painting, writing, or being supervised by my cat-son.
